The Investment and Payment for Environmental Services Hub project is testing an integrated model to accelerate deforestation-free, climate-resilient and inclusive agricultural value chains in Cameroon. Led by IDH, the Hub combines tailored technical assistance, catalytic seed capital, a business and investment network, and a private-sector-funded PES programme. It will help promising local enterprises become investment-ready and adopt sustainable practices, while connecting them with impact investors, local banks, microfinance institutions, commodity buyers and other companies. The PES component will reward farmers and communities for verified environmental performance and strengthen the resilience and sustainability of participating supply chains. PES will first be piloted in the Grand Mbam landscape using CAFI’s PES platform, with lessons informing potential expansion elsewhere in Cameroon and the Congo Basin.
