The 2025 Annual Review of the partnership between the Republic of Congo and CAFI is now available. Prepared in accordance with the provisions of the Letter of Intent, it provides an overview of progress achieved during this first phase of the partnership, as well as perspectives for the years ahead.
The Review highlights progress across several key areas, including forest governance, monitoring of land-use emissions, land-use planning, and the development of innovative approaches to forest conservation. It also underscores advances in the implementation of Payments for Environmental Services (PES), including the adoption of a national roadmap and the successful completion of a first pilot project.
The report further highlights the strong mobilisation of partners in support of the partnership’s objectives. While the Letter of Intent initially envisaged a commitment of USD 65 million, close to USD 120 million was mobilised over the course of its implementation through CAFI funding and partner co-financing.
The review also sheds light on the challenges that remain in accelerating the implementation of certain reforms and translating technical progress into tangible impacts on the ground. It serves as an important reference for tracking progress achieved under the partnership between the Republic of Congo and CAFI.
