Agriculture and forestry drive both livelihoods and deforestation in Central Africa but few businesses are ready for private investment and local finance tools are limited. reVive Central Africa is an IDH-led CAFI preparation grant to design an Investment Development Hub in Cameroon and pilot a Payment for Environmental Services scheme in Grand Mbam, with potential scale-up across the Congo Basin. It will craft technical assistance and seed-capital mechanisms and build a finance network (impact investors, local banks, MFIs) to unlock investable, deforestation-free agribusiness models. Activities include stakeholder consultations, mapping priority value chains/landscapes and potential pipeline, and designing PES/MRV and feasibility analyses for a full project proposal.

Objectives

  • Map promising sectors, landscapes and enterprises for sustainable investment.
  • Design an Investment Development Hub in Cameroon with a PES pilot in Grand Mbam.
  • Test blended-finance tools and incentives to attract local banks and international impact investors.
  • Build partnerships and align with national strategies for sustainable agriculture and forest management.
