Objectives

The Democratic Republic of Congo hosts vast Congo Basin forests essential for climate regulation and livelihoods. Achieving REDD+ targets requires strong, informed civil society able to monitor programmes and advocate for sustainable land use. The GTCR-R network unites about 650 organisations in 19 provinces but faces governance and capacity gaps. This project was launched to professionalise the network, decentralise monitoring and strengthen civil society’s influence in REDD+ policy and safeguards.
Objectives
  • Improve GTCR-R’s governance and operations through regular assemblies, clear procedures and transparent reporting.
  • Build advocacy and technical capacity of national and provincial civil society actors on REDD+ and forest governance.
  • Set up participatory, decentralised monitoring of REDD+ programmes and safeguards.
