Republic of Congo : Implementing the NDC 3.0 Ambition

With the official publication of its third Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0), the Republic of the Congo had reached an important milestone in its climate action agenda on 5 February 2026. This new contribution reflects the country’s renewed ambition in the areas of mitigation, adaptation, and resilient development through to 2035, in line with the objectives of the Paris Agreement.

Led by the Ministry of Environment, the Congo Basin and Sustainable Development, the preparation of this strategic document benefited from support from CAFI’s support, as it financed the entire development process through its implementing partners, notably UNOPS, FAO, and Climate Analytics. In line with CAFI’s principles, support was provided through an inclusive and participatory approach involving a broad range of national stakeholders, including sectoral ministries, the private sector, civil society, and technical and financial partners.

Towards the NDC 3.0 Implementation plan

Today CAFI remains committed to supporting the Republic of the Congo’s climate ambition. Through its Technical Assistance Facility (with UNOPS) and Climate Analytics, CAFI is supporting the preparation of the NDC 3.0 Implementation Plan, which is expected to be finalised by end October 2026.

This support aims to translate the ambitions of the NDC into concrete actions by identifying priority investments, financing arrangements, institutional responsibilities, and monitoring mechanisms necessary for effective implementation.

Through this continued engagement, CAFI reaffirms its commitment to supporting the Republic of the Congo in implementing a low-carbon, climate-resilient development pathway based on the sustainable management and valorisation of its natural resources.
