DRCongo and RCongo present CAFI support at CBFP Climate Stream

Session dedicated to CAFI is an opportunity for the two countries to discuss current progress and challenges when developing and implementing national investment frameworks

Kigali, 23 November 2016 : the Climate Stream of the 16th meeting of the Parties of the Congo Basin Forest Partnership was an opportunity for the Republic of Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to present their efforts during a highly interactive session dedicated to CAFI and its partner countries.

Three presentations (downloadable below) kickstarted the session, moderated by the French agricultural research and international cooperation organization (CIRAD)

The following discussion allowed to clarify questions related to both processes and objectives of CAFI, such as:

  • becoming an implementing organization or a member of the CAFI Executive Board
  • the role of civil society in decision-making processes
  • the benefits of a pass-through mechanism with implementing organizations
  • capacity building efforts
  • the focus on REDD+ and low emission development plans
  • the alignment of CAFI support with the COMIFAC convergence plan and the CEEAC priorities.
