The Central African Forest Initiative (CAFI) invites interested organizations to participate in an online information session dedicated to its Call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the selection of implementing partners to scale up CAFI’s Payment for Environmental Services (PES) Programme in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Republic of Congo, and the Central African Republic.

The session will present the objectives, scope, eligibility criteria and submission modalities of the EOI and will provide an opportunity for interested organizations to ask questions directly to the CAFI team.
Call for Expressions of Interest – Payment for Environmental Services Programme
This regional programme aims to transform rural livelihoods while reducing deforestation and forest degradation. Through performance-based payments, CAFI will provide direct financial incentives to hundreds of thousands of local beneficiaries for adopting sustainable land-use practices such as agroforestry, reforestation and forest conservation. These efforts will contribute to forest preservation, climate change mitigation, biodiversity protection and improved food security.
Indicative funding for this first phase amounts to up to USD 100 million, complemented by national and international co-financing. Eligible organizations include UN agencies, international cooperation agencies, accredited NGOs and research institutions with proven experience in forestry, agriculture and land-use sectors.
