DRC and CAFI Launch a new Call for Expressions of Interest

Purpose

The purpose of this Call for Expressions of Interest is to select the implementing organisation(s) capable of ensuring the effective implementation of a project under the Kinshasa Supply Basin (“PROBAK”) PES Programme.

Read the Terms of reference (in French)

The specific objectives of PROBAK are to

  • Initiate an ambitious deployment of PES tools;
  • Initiate a new project financing mechanism based on verified performance;
  • Measure and optimise the impact of PES (and of different combinations of ‘production’ and ‘preservation’ PES, with the main focus on production PES) in terms of socio-economic and environmental outcomes;
  • Inform the further scaling up of PES and the development of an ambitious portfolio of sustainable land management projects fully integrating the new approach and PES tools.

Eligibility

In accordance with CAFI’s legal framework, the eligible implementing organisations (lead organisation in the case of a consortium) may be as follows:

  • Agencies of the United Nations System and the World Bank;
  • The following eligible Non-United Nations Organisations (NUNOs) :
    • International Cooperation Organisations (e.g. KFW, Enabel, AFD, GIZ, USAID, JICA, SNV, etc.);
    • International Non-Governmental Organisations (INGOs) or international research institutes (not-for-profit).

It should be noted that eligible Non-United Nations Organisations (NUNOs) must be accredited in order to access CAFI funding. However, all NON-UN organisations meeting the eligibility criteria set out in Annex 3 are invited to submit their interest (accredited or not). In this case, the accreditation process will only be initiated for the non-accredited implementing organisations selected under this call for EoI.
